Scraps and Pieces

Some nuggets from my early morning journaling:

From Brother Lawrence: “If the vessel of our soul is still tossed with winds and storms, let us awake the Lord, who reposes in it, and He will quickly calm the sea”.

I will not allow you to fail.

Frances J Roberts. “Truth is always simple. Love is unsophisticated. Holiness is uncluttered”.

He uses ignorant and unlearned men. He can use me.

What is in your hand? A few crackers and fish? The jawbone of a donkey? Shamgar’s ox goad? The tent peg of Heber’s wife?  David’s sling and stone? The widow’s jar of oil? The Lord uses the scraps and pieces of our lives. He ordered them to gather up the fragments so that nothing is wasted. Lord, thank you for gathering me up for Your use.

A. B. Simpson said, “Stand in the place where God puts you. Meet the events that come to you in the course of your life, turning them into occasions for faith and victory”. I think that was one of the best definitions of the Believer’s Walk that I know. Live your life out loud.

Lord, I will give You my two small fish at Your request. I worship You.

Luke 8:22-25

Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out. 23 But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. 24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!”

Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 But He said to them, “Where is your faith?”

And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

Her right hand to the workmen’s hammer;
