Praying for the Lost
I learned to pray for the lost from a little pamphlet by Back to the Bible Broadcast, titled, “How I Learned to Pray for the Lost”. Author is unknown. Parts of it can still be found online. I have customized the prayer a bit through the years for my use. This is a good template. A place to start. Always be Holy Spirit led and Word based. We never pray controlling prayers over people. That is actually Christian witchcraft. However, we do have authority over the powers of darkness that control them. This is the key to praying for the lost.
Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I thank You that, With You all things are possible. (Mark 10:27) I pray for ______ now:
I decree: The weapons of my warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of enemy strong holds; Therefore, I cast down every imagination, and every high thing that exalts itself against the true knowledge of God in their mind, and I bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. (2 Cor 10:4-5) I decree and command the tearing down of all the works of Satan in their lives now and any strongholds which the enemy may have built up in their thinking.
I decree that all this be accomplished in the ones for whom I pray, that is, that the works of the enemy be torn down on the basis of the Blood that was shed for us, in the power, authority and Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In the authority of the Name of the Lord Jesus, I decree their deliverance from the power and persuasion of the evil one, and from the love of the world and the lust of the flesh. I cover them with the Blood of Jesus. I claim the quickening of their consciences, repentant hearts, hearing ears, seeing eyes and believing hearts now. I decree and declare that God’s will and purposes are accomplished in and through them, in the Name of Jesus. Satan, in the Name of Jesus, I command you to cease and desist your maneuvers against them now! For greater is He who is in me, than he that is I the world. (1 John 4:4)
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ. (2 Cor 2:14)
